Working in Pajamas

People who work from home don't get much done, right? Wrong!

According to a recent study conducted by Stanford University if you are a person working on the kitchen table wearing your pajamas you're a more productive worker.

Seems counter intuitive, doesn't it? I mean if I could stay at home all day and wander from the computer to the fridge to the computer to the television to the mailbox to the laundry room, well you get the idea.

Ctrip, a Chinese travel agency, agreed to be the guinea pig for a work-at-home study and during the 9-month period found:
> A 12 percent increase in productivity for the at-home workers. Of that increase, 8.5 percent came from working more hours (due to shorter breaks and fewer sick days) and 3.5 percent came from more performance per minute. The researchers speculate this was due to quieter working conditions.

> A 50 percent decrease in attrition among the work-from-home group.

> Substantially higher work satisfaction as measured by a survey among the home group.
Wired.com noticed something else interesting from the study "Employees who were already more productive tended to chose working from home while less-productive employees chose to stay in the office."

Have you ever worked from home? Do you have a college job that allows you to work from home?

Would your major (future career) be conducive to an at home job?

Comments

  1. I have never worked from home and don't think I ever will want to. I think that I would be bored if I worked at home every single day and I would get distracted very easily. For me, I think to get out and do stuff instead of sit at the computer. Although, I could see why people work better at home, it is a place where they feel more comfortable and they don't have anyone watching over their shoulders making sure they do everything right. I think it depends on the type of person who can be productive to do work at home, they have to have a lot of self control and be determined to do their work. I wish I was that type of person but I know myself and know that a job at home would not be the right job for me.

    1. I have never worked at home before and I do not known if I ever want to. When I am just at home on a regular basis I get bored and I could never imagine trying to do at job at home. Personally I would get too distracted from all the things that would be going on around me. Also having a job gets you out and able to meet people and you never know who will be become your friend for life. I can also understand how people would work better at home depending on their personality. You have to be able to stay focused and get everything done in a appropraite time frame. My job right now would not let me work at home. It requires interaction with customers and paperwork I would not be able to receive at home, plus I do not think our corporate office would like to hear I am getting paid for doing nothing at home. My future job would not be a conductive job at home. I want to be a pediatric nurse and I do not think I could provide everything a child would need at my own home. Some people may be right to work at home, but it is not something that would interest or be exciting for me.

  2. I have never worked at home, except for working on homework and studying for school. I want to be an elementary school teacher and working at home would not work for that job. I know myself well enough where if I could work from home, I would not be able to. I do not think I would be able to stay focused on work. If I was to be at home, I would have too many distractions, such as the T.V., the internet, and being able to just get up and walk around. I have a short attention span, so working in an office would be the best for me.

  3. I would have thought that you would get less work done if you were to work at home. It is crazy how you get more work done when you are at home. For me if I were to work at home I fell that I would get less work done. I think it all depends on the type of worker you are. I know for my major (criminal justice) it would be hard to work at home. It is still amazing to me that workers are able to get more work done at home.

  4. Personally, I would absolutely hate to work at home even though i would love to just get up and not have to worry about being late because I was getting ready. The only work I do at home is my homework and i find my self struggling to finish it because i am always getting distracted by the smallest of things, so work at home would not be the best idea for me. I love being around other people as well and having to work at home would not let you interact with many people and improve your communication skills. Working at home will only cause me anxiety because i am in a tight space. Me wanting to be a vet, i would rather be out and about volunteering in shelters and spending time with animals and people as well.

  5. I have never worked at home before but I would probably love to work at home. I think working in the comfort of my own home will absolutely make me more productive than being in an office. But that's just me. I know everyone is different when it comes to working. Maybe it gets distracting to some people when you're at home but personally I would love it. My future career is being a psychologist, working with kids that are mentally challenged. So for this job I don't really think it would be something I can do at the comfort of my own home.

  6. I have worked from home and I was very surprised by how much work I was able to accomplish. I found that I was able to stay discipline throughout.I didn't watch any Television or eat before my break.I don't like being supervised all the times and it was a big relieve to break from that office tradition.I was my own boss at least for that day.I felt comfortable being in an environment that was so familiar to me.My friend once tried but She told me that it was very difficult to concentrate fully on her work. She likes eating and she would find herself waking up from her desk to grab a snack or a drink.Right now I don't have a college job but if I were to find one, I would be more than happy to work from home.

  7. In my experience as a student having to do assigned homework is easier than try to do it outside of home. When I have tried to do work outside of home for example, at the library or at the school itself, I have failed to keep my consentration. In contrast to working at home working at school gave me distractions like friends or other activities taking place. At home there were some distractions like siblings arguements, however, having the pressure of not having everything accessible from what I do in school gave me an extra reason to have to do everything at once. Working from home allows you to worry and for me pressure is a good thing when having a deadline. Overall working at home is better because it leaves no space for error and error is bad.

  8. Personally, I would never work from home because there are simply just too many distractions. At home there is the television, the refrigerator, my bed and all I would ever want to do is everything else but my assigned work. Even now it is hard for me to focus on my assignments because I have the television on right in front of me. I don’t like working with it off because then it is just too quiet. I am more productive when I am around other individuals like in a library. Everyone else is getting their work done, and it inspires me to get my work done too because I do not want to be a lager. In the future, I know for sure that I will not want a home office. I would want to go out to my work place so I can be in a new productive environment and get work done besides being at home getting nothing done. Also, having an office outside your home is good way to get out the house every day, so you won’t just be a couch potato for the rest of your life.

  9. If I had to work at home I wouldn't mind at all. Personally I like doing most of my work and hard thinking at home. For example if in class there was an opportunity to start an essay in class it's harder for me to think and do work in class because since most people are writing away, I feel like there's more pressure to keep writing even though I don't have a clear idea on what I want to state in my essay. But if I do my essay at home, I could be more comfortable in my own environment with music playing, comfortable clothes and be at my own pace and thinking space without the pressure of everyone else writing away. Also if I need a break during work I can take it whenever I please without wondering if the time is right.

  10. Have you ever worked from home? Do you have a college job that allows you to work from home?

I have worked at home before when I was in middle school. I tutored/babysat a fifth grader while I was in eigth grade. I would help him with his math homework or his english homework. Or we would just hang out and play on the computer. Now that I am in college, I have a real job. My job does not allow me to work at home, because I actually have to react with customers and meet their needs.

Would your major (future career) be conducive to an at home job?

The career I want to pursue would not be an at home job. I want to be a dentist, and I definitely would not want to clean and work on peoples' teeth in the comfort of my home. I don't think it would be safe and professional.

  11. I have never worked at home except for doing homework and studying for school. I would imagine working at home would be great because of the comfort of being at home, having all the space you need, and the quietness of your home would help you be more productive. I think if you love your job, you will do work efficiently and on time. Of course there are many distractions and i think it just depends on the person and just self discipline to not be distracted.

  12. No I have never worked from my house because i get distracted easily and never end up doing what i was suppose to do. Staying home is more like a day you can relax, not a day were you can work. I could never work in my house because i have many distraction such as the computer, television and the radio. Those kind of distraction cause me not to end up finishing my work that i had for the day.I believe a home suppose to stay as being a home were family can come over and have family time. And no thank god i dont have a job that allows me to work at home because i know forsure i wouldnt remeber what to do. I prefer to work out side my house because i get things done easily and done faster.

  13. No, I have never worked from home for a job nor for a college job. I think working from home is not such a bad idea, after all, you do get to work in an environment most comfortable to your liking. I know that my cousin works from home and after hearing this I was quite interested. She told me that working at home is not as difficult as working in an office because you can resume your work at any time. If she has errands to do, she can do that first and then come back to her work in her room in her pajamas. So far, I plan to be an occupational therapist and that career may have me end up at another person's house to do my work but, maybe, not mine.

  14. No, I have never worked from home. I recently got my first job and it is in retail. I think working from home would be a great idea if you can stay focused. It would be a good idea if you have young child and they are too young for school; you would have more time with your children and could work and make money at the same time. There are obvious negative sides to that, like getting distracted too often. Another upside to working at home is not having commute traffic, so it would save a good amount of money added up each year. If I had the option, I would work at home, it really just seems convienient and a good idea.

  15. No, i have never worked at home and do not plan on working at home. Something similar i did was take classes online, my experience was very boring. I was in front of a computer almost 6 hours a day and sitting for that long was not very pleasant. Even though i could get up,eat, and listen to music, i like to get up and get out and be around people. I believe that everyone needs to get out and smell the air everyday and not stay home in pajamas all day. Everyone can have different opinions and some might work better then others at home.

  16. No i have never worked at home, the only work i have done at home is homework. I can never get homework done at home because there are too many distractions and i get bored easily. I think working at home is a really good thing for those who can do it because they get to pick their own hours and feel comfortable while working. My major is Kinesiology and i want to be a physical therapist therefore i don't think i would be able to work out of my house. I would need to work at a medical center.

  17. No, I have never worked from home. Working from home would be great, but so far I have not had the opportunity for this type of job. My major will be in criminology, so I doubt that there is any opportunities to work from home in my future.

  18. No, I have never worked at home but I have done homework at home and I'm guessing its a little the same since I do my homework in bed with my pajamas on. I actually have noticed that I can finish my homework when I'm wearing cofterable clothes and I can focuse on it more. So I do believe that a person does finish their work faster at home, because it works for me when im doing my homework.

  19. I have yet to be presented with the pleasure of working at home but, I have baby sitted along with thrown birthday party's at my home. As a freshman in college, I doubt there are any job opportunities that will allow me to work from home. The major I have in mind may be hands on so, it will be more conducive in person than working at home alone in my pj's.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No, I do not have a college job that allows me to work from home. Although when I am at home working alone, in comfortable clothes, and music blasting my homework reduction is better than when I am surrounded by others. My career after college will allow me to work from home in my pajamas if I choose to do so. I want to be a certified public accountant and if I choose to work on my own instead of for a company then this is possible.

  21. Working at home can be very relaxing and productive at the same time. you can listen to music or eat a snack, but it only works for some type of work. some work is complicated and requires more equipment than a computer. Difficult jobs require a lot of focus and long periods of work. some work conditions are not better at home either. i find it hard to keep a constant thought through the chaos of my own home sometimes. It is good to separate your work life from your life at home because i find it too stressful to do both at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I personally have never worked from home for a job, however I have taken an online college course from home. I would fall under the percent of people who worked better while at home. I was able to focus more on work and I got to work when I felt like. I did not have set hours, if I wanted to do homework at 2am, I could do homework at 2am. The freedom to choose when I completed my assignments allowed me to willingly do them since I was not forced to do so. My dream job, working at a radio station, would not work so well from home. The whole reason why I want to work at a radio station is so I can stay involved in the community. It will be difficult to work from home and still stay involved. It really depends on the work that someone is doing, or the best environment someone is most comfortable working in in order for "Working in your pj's" to succeed.

  23. I haven't ever worked from home before, but I know people who have and they feel the opposite from the article. My mom felt like she couldn't get anything done. I don't have a college job that allows me to work from home.My major (future career) wouldn't be able to be an at home job. I don't like the idea of working at home. It sounds like it would be a good idea or fun, but you don't really have interaction with people and I get distracted easily so it would be hard for me.

  24. i think people who work at home are likely to slack on some work but still get some things done because they are comfortable in their clothes which makes them more happy and more productive to work. People in a normal working office do get their fair share of work done, but they work all day in binding clothes which get uncomfortable to work all day in. i would lave to have the chance to work all day in my pajamas at home. it seems more relaxing than dressing up every day.

  25. Being able to work from home would have a ton of benefits I believe. However, it also depends on what type of work it is you do. If patients are coming into your home and you have children for example, that would seem less professional to your clients. If you are just on your computer all day or just working on something by yourself with no interaction with clients, then I think it would be a very comfortable job. For me, I personally would like to work at a health clinic instead, since I would have to have interaction with different clients.

  26. I have never worked from home before. However a year ago I got injured at work, and was out (still making money from disability) and didn't work for two years. I hated it!I got so bored at home, and borderline depressed. At work I was able to talk and socialize with people, I felt as though what I was doing was getting me out, and making the money I made something that I earned.
Even though it is not the same as working from home, I know that working from home is something that would not work well for me. Even now with homework I wait until the last minute, and will always find soemthing else that "has to be done right now." Those things that "have to get done right now" don't really have to get done, it's things like laundry, dusting, organizing the fridge...things no one really wants to do, but it is better than work. I need to work at a place where I am working with others for a common goal. It makes me feel more motivated and fulfilled.

  27. I have also never worked from home. But due to how I procastinate a lot, I think I would not be very productive if I were to work at home. Because of that procastination, I'm More inclined to work in an evnvironment where I use my hands or help other people to keep me busy. And I also like the social aspect of working away from home. I feel like if I were to work at home I would get bored and kind of lonely because I have no one to talk with or ask questions.

  28. I personally think that working at home, where you are at your most comfort zone, is very helpful. I once took an online statistics class and I felt like i worked a lot better at home. When working at home, you are working at your own pace and working in an environment your familiar with and without without any distractions from other people. However, I believe this is an opinionated topic. Some people might not like working at home because they get distracted by siblings, parents, pets etc. It all depends on how the person feels about their home. For example, my brother hates working at home and prefers studying at the local library.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I never worked from home but, I have taken an online class, so that would be something similar to that. And in my personal experience with that online class, it was difficult for me. So much to do in little time; expectations were higher because it was online and not taught in a classroom. I'd rather stay in a classroom than staying at home going online switching through the Firefox tabs as I now start to procrastinate. But their is an advantage to working at home or taking an online class, you don't have to drive to work or go to the College campus. In my personal opinion, it really depends on the person that is working from home. That certain person has duties that must be followed as if he/she was at work. Being responsible is important for that situation.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I believe that working at home and being productive really depends on the person. Some people work better where they are comfortable and some need to sit down in an environment that encourages them to work. I feel that procrastinators would have a lot of trouble working at home because they are surrounded by distractions. They are able to take breaks and make them as long as they would like, ultimately leading to not getting any work done or cramming most of it in last minute. I don't think a situation like this would work for me because I would find millions of excuses to put my work aside. On the other hand, I think a work from home situation would work for someone like my mom. She has always been into the idea of doing work at home so she can spend more time on the household work as well. Unlike me, she is able to break down her tasks and stay on schedule to get her work done. I believe that this method really just depends on the person's work habits.

  31. working in your pajamas is really appealing to me. working at home definitely has a lot of perks for instance you will never be late for work. however for a person like me who likes to procrastinate a lot. An environment that encourages me to work is a better place for me. There are a few people who can actually do this kind of work at home without having trouble getting their work done in the appropriate time.

  32. I prefer working in my pajamas than at an office or in class. I do enjoy interacting with others, but I find myself only doing that. When I work at home, I get more done and am comfortable doing it as well as not stressed because of traffic. Traffic is a huge stressor, even though it may seem like just another daily thing, it stresses us all out. In addition to relieving stress, working from home is quieter and more comfy. When we are comfy we are more likely to get more done, especially when you begin comparing pajamas and couches to dress clothes and desks. If you have the drive to keep yourself focused, then you will exceed while working from home, as well as making more money, which everybody enjoys!

  33. I find working from to be slightly less productive than working in an office away from home but have a more comfortable environment. As an accountant, my mom has worked from home for many years and I assist her occasionally. In our home there are many distractions causing work not to get accomplished. Even in school when the teachers announce that class will be online one week. It is hard for me to stay on track at home. In the future I would definitely stay away from careers that require me to work from home.

  34. I've never had a job that allowed me to work at home, but believe me if I had the choice I would take it in a heartbeat. I feel as though working at home you'll get the sleep you need because your bed would be in your work place, and you'll get the nutrition you need as well if you decided to work in your kitchen. We work best when we're in a comfortable environment, what better place would that be than our own home. My major is Business and with that I know I have a wide range of career options. Majoring in Business allows me to have the choice to work at home if I want to start my own company or even work on creative ideas for another company.

  35. I find that working from home can be more productive than working in an actual office. when working in an office you feel the constant pressure of your fellow colleges competing against you. Plus a designated time that you have to take a break. versus working at home you can eat and take a break whenever you want. when you satisfy your needs you would be able to work more productively and efficiently.

  36. I have never worked at home and I don't think I would ever want to. Working at home seems like it would be boring and i'd be easily distracted. I personally wouldn't be good at working at home because I get easily distracted and it would be hard not to just want to lay around all day eat, sleep, and watch TV. By working in an office your not given those options of sleeping or watching TV but you have to stay focused on your job. Working at home may work for some people because they enjoy the luxury of being relaxed while working but I know working at home wouldn't work out for me.

  37. In a previous job that I held for about three and a half years, I had the occasional opportunity of working at home. Every once in a while I would get to do some kind of special project, which usually involved some kind of 3 Dimensional CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) project or graphic design project that did not necessarily require me to be on-site. I found this to be a huge advantage while being in school because I was able to do it in my downtime, whenever that happened to be. However, I did notice one downside to this, which is now clear to me when I do homework as well. When I work from home, I do not have a predefined workspace that is free from non-work distractions. I often get sidetracked by family, personal electronics, and food that is at my disposal. This makes pay-by-the-hour work difficult to keep track of because the work done is not as consistent as it is in a workplace.

  38. I have never worked at home but If I was given the opportunity I think I would have to pass. I feel like I would get my work done but I like leaving the house and coming home. I'm a fairly active person and if I stayed at home an extra 40 hours a week, I would go crazy.

  39. it is very interesting how people can get more work done when working at home because when I'm home, I just want to relax and kick back. I would not want my career to be at home because I would slack off and just have fun. Home is where you can settle in and be yourself. In college, I had a couple of online classes that were a bit hard for me because I did not manage my time well. I would complete my online work at home, on my bed. I did manage to get my work done because I had a lot of time to finish. Online classes gives you the opportunity to take your time and to not rush. Although statistics show that people get more work done at home in their pajamas, I feel that it is better to have a job outside the house for several reasons, I like to drive and going outside.

  40. I would love the idea of working from my home. I personally feel like I would get a lot more work done when working from home rather than in an office. I would not have to deal with the common drama and chaos that happens while at the job site. I would not have to worry about getting sick because I am not working in an office or at a school and encountering with the germs of others. I would take as many breaks as I need as still be able to get my work done. I am not shocked that people who work from their homes are more productive than those people who are working in an office. They are in their comfort zone. It is a lot easier to get things done when you are comfortable. I am going into the nursing field so my career would not allow me to work from home.

  42. I have never worked from home before, but the convenience of actually working from my own home is such a good idea, however I also feel that it is so much of a convenience that I may not want to get that much work done. I know myself enough that I know that I would sleep in, have the t.v. on playing my favorite shows, and listening to music. I would get side tracked a lot. There are a lot of negative aspects for myself personally; I enjoy leaving my house for class or work, interacting with people on a daily basis. At home, I would feel alone; possibly someday in the future when I have kids, it would be a tempting thought to try and work from home, so I can spend time with my kids; Again, I would be distracted by my family and wouldn't get too much work done. My major as of today is Pre-Nursing, this is a very hands-on major, I could work from my home in certain situations, like if I had patients living at my home as a At-Home Care facility. But the reason I chose this major is because I want to work at a hospital, interacting with hundreds of people a day.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have never had a job from home, but I do have an online class for school. Personally, I don't find being at home with work to do very productive. I get way too easily distracted with TV, my phone, my dogs, and the frequently visited kitchen. I have to force myself to sit down and focus on the tasks I need to complete. I wish I could say that lounging around at home in my pj's causes me to work harder, but sadly it doesn't. As for my major, nursing, working from home would be impossible. Nursing is a hands on job and requires you to go into "the office." This is what I love to do, this is who I am. I have to be on my feet, moving around, having things to keep myself entertained. So I guess it's a good thing that I'm more productive in the field than I am at home. I love my lazy days when I get to sit there and watch Netflix and eat whatever I can find in the fridge, but I can only do that for so long. I eventually have the need to go outside and get fresh air so I don't feel like, as my cousin would say, "A moldy couch potato."

  44. The title Working in Pajamas caught my attention immediately. During weekends, I would study and do homework in my pajamas. However, I have never actually worked in my pajamas. It's not the fact that you can get your priorities done just simply putting on your pajamas. Rather, you are in a quiet environment to do your work. I don't find it any different than working at a library because usually, it is a quiet environment. However, I would not want to work at home. Although I work better when I am focused and when it is quiet, going into a nursing career would be impossible to work at home. I would be spending my work time at the hospital and I would have to work with patients and other nurses rather than working independently. For others, working at home would be the best way to get their work done successfully. For myself, working at home in my pajamas would not be the best work place.

  45. The closest to working at home I've done is babysitting a few kids at my house. In my case, it wasn't as relaxing because I had to make sure nothing was broken or dirtied more than usual, but I can understand why working from home would encourage production. At home, you are more comfortable and may be able to focus more on your work rather than be distracted by co-workers. As for the more productive people choosing to work at home compared to those less productive, it makes sense that those who are naturally driven feel assured they will get their work done at home.

As a speech pathology major and an aspiring speech pathologist, I'd imagine my job would not allow me to work from home, least of all in my pajamas. However, I plan to become a speech therapist in a hospital, so I would likely be wearing scrubs, which in my experience are fairly comfortable.

  46. I personally believe working at home isn't a good idea. It can be easy because everything is their with you and you feel confortable, but their are many distractions. Your friends can come over, you have the television, you can be on the phone whenever you want, and etc. You know you can take your time since nobody is their to boss you around. You can be laying down on your bed the whole time and do whatever you feel like doing. I believe it will get you even lazier just working at home. The point of working outside your house isn't only to work for somebody, but also to meet people. You won't be exposed to the real world if you're always going to be working at home. My major or future career wouldn't be at home, since I'm studying for nursing. It's all about communicating with your surroundings. I don't have a job working at home and I wouldn't want to.

  47. Personally, working at home would be really productive for me due to more relaxing atmosphere. As a full time student, I do not have any working experiences yet but I really do enjoy doing homework at home rather than staying in the library.I would love to major in interior design and this job requires lots of personal time for creative thinking, thus staying home comfortably would be definitely more efficient for me.

  48. This article caught my eye because I love the idea of working at home in my pajamas. The statistics in this article surprised me; I would have never thought that working at home would be more productive then working in the office. However, now that I think of it I work in a law office and when I am at work most of the time I am tired and bored. I always have plenty of work to get done but being in the office itself just makes me tired. If I were to work at home I think I would be able to concentrate much better because I would be more comfortable, have music playing, and be more at tentative. After reading this article I would love to go to my work and tell them I want to work from home, unfortunately I do not think they would allow that. For my future career hopefully as a speech therapist I will not be able to work from home however, I will not have to work in an office which will be great.

  49. The idea of working at home may sound like a swell idea, especially with all of its pros and benefits.. But after a while it may be one of the most biggest mistakes ever. Of course the fact that you're all comfy sounds great but when you think about it, you'll probably always be at home. I would feel miserable. Working at home would mean you will probably see all your family members almost 24/7. Having no space from everyone at home, sucks. You can't have a breath of fresh air because you will always be working on your computer. And you can't socialize, which I love doing most! Working at home will be so boring. It's just a bad idea and I don't think anyone should do it..

  50. I never have worked at home, but personally, for me, I don't believe I will do better productive work than I would if I would actually go to work other than stay home and do work at home. For example, i once took an online class and I found it quiet difficult to stay focused since there were so many other distractions. I want to be a teacher therefore, there isn't many jobs out there in which you teach at home. If i was to chose however, i would chose to work in a class room so i can interact with my students and get out the house and have the feeling that i actually did something productive that day other than staying home.

  51. I believe that it depends on the person, some people feel more comfortable working from home, while others don't like that. In my situation, I have never worked from home. Its not that I have a problem working in pajamas, its because working in a company with a group of people is what I like to do. So by the end of the day, I can leave my workplace and go back home. where I can relax and spend the rest of the day with my family.
I might go crazy if I worked and slept at the same place.
This is my opinion on the topic and it doesn't have to be the right one.

  52. This article is interesting because working at home is always mentioned as being a bad thing. I have never worked from home, the closest thing in college to working from home to me is the online courses I am taking. The online courses require you to be on top of all of your work with caution. Many mistakes are made due to the lack of communication, this is why you have to be cautious when taking them. As for working from home, for me it would be a horrible idea. I encounter too many distractions that it is difficult to focus on my online courses. Working from home would be a bad idea because I like to enjoy my time at home and I would find any excuse to put off work because I would tell myself I could always do it later. The main reason why I would not want to work from home is because I have always pictured myself working in an office or some sort of building and working from home would be a bit discouraging even if the job itself is great. To me working from home would bring laziness and maybe even fear to move out into the 'real world' because I had always been accustomed to staying at home and doing things my own way. I will not be working at home because my intended career requires me to be elsewhere, but it is remarkable to me that people can be very successful from working at home.

  53. I have never worked at home only baby sit my little nephews. The only job i have from college was the only class i took. I wouldnt recommend taking it at home again because i found so much distraction from eating or watching tv or being with my family. I would procrastinate. I would not want to work at home for a future job because in my house its always crowded with my little nephews that they always want to be and play with that i find it hard to concentrate and do quality work. The idea sounds great because you can wear anything you want and eat at any given time and take breaks without being told to do so.

  54. This article is very interesting, but I don't quite agree with the idea of working from home is more productive. I think wearing pajama makes me want to sleep. I never had a job from home, but I have take those online courses, I don't feel that is a more effective way to study instead of going to classrooms. Maybe I am one of the less-productive employees according to wired.com's research, but whatever, I don't want feel the workplace's intension in my home.

  55. In my opinion, I think that it depends on the people, some people work in home will be more efficient, while others will be more efficient in office. Actually, this article is funny and interesting. I have never worked from home, but I always stay at home to do online shopping. I never been gotten campus job from home. One similar thing that I take online class from home. The online class is really hard for me who is a international student. Online class require student to check E-mail everyday to follow professor step by step. However, I usually will be late for my H.W. Otherwise, working from home would be a bad idea for me. If I stay at home, I will be lazy nothing I want to do. I just enjoy cooking delicious food, watching movie or sleeping at home. If I can that I prefer work in my office or public library.

  56. I think I would like to experience that wearing a pajamas at work. I personally feel more energetic working in a comfortable enviroment such as home. Then I would be able to relax. Also being comfortable make me think creatively. So i find this article is very interesting and i hope my future job allows me to do such thing. I heard in China there are some companies are like that. For example a company which produce essence oils.It allows their empoyees wear pajamas. In addtion, they trying to make their workers enjoy their working enviroment as much as they can, so they also provide SPA and massage service during the lunch break. That is awesome, isn't it?

  57. In my opinion work at home will be a very good idea. Because people at home will be more relax and comfortable that wear the suit and work in the office. Because when people are relax then there will be more ideas come to our mind. For example myself I prefer fo the homework at home so I can be more relax and comfortable. Even many students like to study at library, but I think library is a little bit too noisy and clouded for me. And in the future my dream is to be a reporter so I would like to stay home and do my work. Because at home I will feel more freedom and i can really open my mind to think what i really want to write about. At office i have to face to my colleague and my boss and I think I will be nervous and cannot fours on my writing. Therefore in the future if I can work at home sometime I will be very thankful about that. And I believe at home I can write better than I work on my small desk at office.

  58. In my opinion, working at home does not suit anybody. It is a question of personality. For instance, a person who already has trouble to concentrate for a long time in a working atmosphere, this kind of person would have even more difficulties to work at home. However, I do think that being a familiar atmosphere like your own house can make you more productive. There is a theory according to which one cannot focus on something for more than twenty minutes. I think that it is closer to an hour than twenty minutes. Nevertheless, I believe in this theory. Taking this study into account, working at home could make one more efficient if the working time is structured and organized with some breaks. But once again, I am not convinced that anyone would be more productive working at home.

  60. I think that depending on what your job is, it may be good or bad for you to work at home. Some people may become lazy and get distracted but I think that for the most part, if you are responsible, you wouldn't slack off. If you are working for you job and you slack off you would risk getting fired. I know people who have worked from home and they loved it. One friend of mine was a marketing manager and he always just did his work from home and it was great becaue he didn't have to work around a work schedual; except for a few conference calls. You also don't have to worry about things like being on time, or packing a lunch. It just seems easier. It definitely depends on your job though. I have experienced homeschooling so that is sort of like working at home. In my situation I found that it just depends on your own determination and self control.

  61. its a good and bad thing , some people might get distracted because you can be doing so many other things than working but for people that commute long hours to get to work it kind of works for the better however you might slack off and get fired because no one is watching you but if you have a reasonable task load than it shouldnt be a problem. however its good because you work at your own pace and no work schedule so you make your own hours which is a blessing. i currently work from home but it is sometimes distracting especially when you dont want to do the work so its easier to get side tract

  62. I am a person who gets distracted very easily. If I was to work from home, I would be wondering around the house and not doing any work. I think I would sleep in and stuff along those lines. I would wander around youtube a lot. I would go on facebook alot. Buy stuff I don't need off ebay. I perfer to go to work everyday at 4 knowing that at 8 30, I don't have to worry about having to keep working when I get home.

  63. I think it is a good idea to work in pajamas. I know working in pajamas is odd when you are in a high class business place in New York, but it is comfortable to work in pajamas. Also people are more interesting in pajamas and a suit. imagine your boss in a light blue pajamas and a suit with a dark red tie. He/She would be funny as hell and it will make work environment more interesting. Overall I believe the idea of working in pajamas is cool and interesting, but it will never come to real work and it is just a fun idea. Nothing else.

  64. While I realize that there are a lot of people who enjoy working from home in their pajamas, this does not work for me. I would love to be able to do this but unfortunately I struggle with procrastination, something that every college student battles. The idea of being comfortable while working is something I would love to do! I don't want to be dressed up in a suit and tie from 9 to 5. It would just be hard to self motivate myself to finish my work on time and not get distracted by the tv, or the computer. I am truly envious of the people who get to do this.

  65. My dream is to be able to work from home because I feel like I will not run late and I will get things done on time. When I have my family I think it would be the best idea to work at home because I will spend more time with my kids and see them grow up. If I worked in the office I would be most of the day and week there and not see my kids for a long time and spend quality time with them. I guess it depends on the person that would want to work from home or in the office.

  66. In my opinion, people should be able to wear whatever type of clothes they feel comfortable wearing. According to researchers they have discovered that the type of clothing we wear directly affects how we feel about ourselves when wearing those types of clothes, our ability to focus on tasks, and even our accuracy on job performance. Overall I believe you should be able to wear whatever you want but also depending on the occasion and how serious you are taking your job.
