World's Richest Superheroes Go To College

The Black Panther isn't just the world's richest superhero, he also has a super education. The Black Panther "has a Ph.D. in Physics from Oxford University and is considered to be one of the eighth smartest people on the planet." He needs that intellect in order to run his own country located somewhere on the African continent.  His estimated worth $500 billion.

Buddy Loans created the infographic, "The World's Richest Superheroes", which lists the top eight pocketbooks as well as the top intellects.

Infographics and comics--what a great combination.  Also, my college friends notice that this graphic contains a "Sources" section that cites Marvel, X-Men Wikia, DC Wikia, and, of course, Forbes. How's that for ethos?

Following the Black Panther on the intelligence scale is Batman aka Bruce Wayne who is a graduate of Yale Law School. His holdings include Wayne Enterprises, a company that holds many patents for all his gadgets and vehicles. Wayne's inheritance and education earned him $80 billion.

Professor Charles Xavier, M.D., Ph.D., graduated from Harvard at the age of 16. Not only is he the founder of the X-Men, he has built his wealth through a series of shrewd investments.  He grew his inheritance to $3.5 billion.

So it's not just superpowers that make our favorite heroes rich, it's also their super educations.

Where is your education going to take you?

Comments

  1. My education is going to take me pretty far, no matter which of the two majors i choose. I am currently a Bio major. With that i would be going t medical school to become a plastic surgeon. If i do not go through with that then i will be getting my BA in psychology. With that i would become a clinical psychologist for either a hospital or a school. Ultimately with my education i would like to help people. Helping people to me is more than just something someone does for a job and keeps going about their day. To me, helping people is more like a reward. To know that i possibly made someones day or either the rest of their life better all because of me is more than something i enjoy, its something that i live for. So i guess my education is taking me to help people.

  2. I am not entirely sure where my education is going to take me, because I feel as though I have wasted a good majority of my time at a school that pushes students through the system as fast as possible. I majored in Graphic Design and while the program was adequate, my portfolio that I produced was questioned by professionals in the industry, mainly asking why there weren't more pieces that focused on lay outs and/or typographical work. There's a lot of weaknesses that I have discovered but I suppose that comes with the territory, and I do have the resources to fill the cracks in the wall. I don't see myself fighting crime or taking on Lex Luthor anytime soon, but I suppose I will be educating myself and eliminating my weaknesses as an individual. Who knows, maybe Batman will end up hiring me to design his business cards.

  3. With the major I have chosen to focus on and complete, I am confident my education will lead me to the secure and adventurous future I have always wanted. Being a health science major, option in pre-clinical health, I have been open minded about he many different areas in the medical field. Yet, my goal is to end my education years with a master’s degree in Nursing since my career choice is to become a Nurse Practitioner. I confident that my education will take me places I have never been to and help those who need help, with or without financial success. My education will teach me how to care for others and have sympathy for those who need special aid. I also know my education will give me the life I want, a future with financial success and life that whenever I’m on vacation, I have no worries about traveling to an international destination.

  4. I hope my education takes me far. Being that I am a Communications major and I plan to have a career in broadcast journalism, I will have to work extremely hard in order to get where I want to be in my career. Since my desired career field is extremely competitive , it is important for me to use and value my education. I am very big on expanding my knowledge and learning new things, so believe that education is very important. And I also believe that my education will take me beyond journalism, it will teach me how to communicate with others and have a greater outlook on the world around me.

  5. I think my education will take me as far as I can take advantage of it. It is my belief that majoring in anything requires more than the classes taken for that diploma, because, from what I've seen, finding a good niche in the competitive requires experience and networking. While I'm not aiming to be the most successful person in my field, I know that I'll have to work hard for it...and that includes getting a good education.

  6. In regards to my education, I'm hoping it will take me far enough to achieve my goal of working for Walt Disney Studios one day. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do for Disney, but I know for sure that I want to be a part of the process of making movies. Even if my education only gets me as far a simple starting point then that's good enough for me. It would be nice if my education can get me a little farther than that though. I'm not asking my education to get me millions of dollars and a nice mansion, just a job that I love and enough food to keep a nice layer of pudginess on me.

  7. My education is the key to my future. As an aspiring English professor, it is safe assume I hold great value in gaining knowledge. One of my favorite artist- Lauryn Hill, once stated, "anything that isn't growing is dead". I'm a firm believer in this, and I know that my education is going to take me around the world. As a person who has always been a fan of comics and superheros, this post was very entertaining! Although, my Batman bias leaves me upset that he is not considered the smartest on the list. Ha!

  8. In the end my education is going to make me a Supreme Court Judge. I am a Criminal Justice Major and I will be double minoring in english and political science. After graduating from college I am going to move on to a law school and become a Lawyer. After many years of being a Lawyer I would love to move on to being a judge and hopefully a Supreme Court Judge in the end. My entire career is going to focus on my education so what I do now to further my education is what is going to get me to my goals in the future. In my field of work I will always have to depend on what I have been taught throughout my life. My morals, societies morals, personal experience, and the things I learned through many years of schooling is what is going to sum up my education and get me where I want to be.

  9. Without a doubt, earning your degree is one of the most important things you can do to help you start building your financial future. Many polls show that the average income is much more for those who have their degrees than for those who just have a high school diploma or GED. My plan is to graduate with my B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration with an option in justice and enforcement and join a department. After I serve a couple years on the force, along with the SWAT team, i plan to try and become a detective or a crime scene investigator.

  10. I don't think there is a better investment than earning your degree for your future. My major is Business Administration with an option in Marketing. In the future I hope to work for Disney in Merchandise Marketing or Advertising. I also hope my career and degree help me achieve financial stability because I don't want to live waiting for my next check. I also want to travel a lot in my lifetime and I think being financially stable will help me make that more achievable.

  11. Superheroes live in a fantasy world. Despite that I think they are great role models. This infographic helps show that. Batman is awesome. He fights crime in the night and is super rich. He's also a Yale Law School graduate. Even in worlds with where men can manipulate metal or wear metal suits that let them fly and shoots laser beams, some of the most successful are the most educated. If I wanted to be batman, a black suit and gadgets are only part of what I'd need. I'd also have to have the smarts. Then maybe I too can be the night.

  12. I believe that super heroes have an advantage when it comes to their education because they have super powers. Yes, i do believe that they work hard to get where they are but they do have an advantage. Although they have an advantage they are still very inspiring and honestly have helped me to push myself forward with my education. With my education I plan to get my degree in Biological Sciences take a semester off and enroll into medical school to become a doctor. Once I become a doctor I want to build my own hospital for those who are in need in another country, because they do not have the resources we have in America. I want to be able to use my education to help others. I'm constantly putting others first before myself so why not continue with it and help the unfortunate.

  13. Education, both formally and informally, is becoming exponentially more important with each generation. Despite the fact that a majority of today’s vice presidents and executives have a college degree there is a huge portion of the white collar working force that does not have a BA. This is becoming increasingly less frequent with each generation. For my parents and their grandparents college used to a privilege. For the millennial, X, and Y generations it has become no less than a pre-requisite; you will be immediately disqualified for the majority of higher salary jobs simply because you do not have a degree. When looking at an amusing statistic like this, it’s very important to remember who these super humans were developed by: most likely college educated middle class individuals. With this lens in place this carefree stat begins to look a bit more ominous, possibly reflective of the consistent subjugation of a lower class? This graphic is lovely, amusing, and enticing; more than the social impact of these kinds of graphics, it is very interesting that with this continually growing generation of business class business degree children that two of the most popular superheroes of the new millennium make the list in Batman and Ironman. Coincidently two superheroes who possess no mutations?

  14. My education will take me far, and allow me to explore a variety of careers in the medical field. Currently I am a Pre-Nursing major, and plan to be an R.N. after I graduate. However if I end up disliking the job, I can always go back to school (after working some years), and pursue another health major such as Health Sciences. The advantage of an education is that it allows one to explore different careers (till they find the perfect one) and obtain higher earning, and possibly more enjoyable, satisfiable jobs

  15. I'm hoping my education will take me as as i can possibly go. (If there are any classes where i can become please reccommend them to me asap, Becoming batman would be the best.) Hopefully my education will lead me to a stable type of lifestyle. i want my education to open as many opportunities needed for me to succeed in my life. Education will lead to the lifestyle i want to live and who i want to become.

  16. I'm hoping that my education will take me farther in life. Since I am a International Studies Major I have a lot of options that come alone with that major. I am looking into either working in the U.N. or Global marketing in the Asian market since I want to live in Japan. But school has allowed me to look at many interesting and potential areas and career that I might want to pursue. Whatever I choose I hope it would lead me to gaining the lifestyle that I want to live in.

  17. Although I hope my education will take me places and allow me to fulfill my dreams, the hard truth is the chances of that happening have diminished. Studies show that more people who have higher degrees in education are taking entry level jobs. Often those jobs don't have any relation to their major. Due to that fact, I have an underlying fear that I will end up as another cubicle worker who sits down from 9am to 5pm with only the idea of clocking out keeping them going. So in order to avoid that, I will be working as hard as possible on being a Computer Science major to have the opportunity to be my own boss. Maybe, by being my own boss, it will eliminate that pencil pushing job out of my head.

  18. I think my education will take me far, at least farther than either of my parents were ever able to go, neither of my parents finished college, and I was constantly told as a kid that college was something I needed to go to or I'd end up working in a job I didn't really like much where I could never really move any higher in the workforce than where I started. Education is something that is greatly needed and I'm happy that I was given the opportunity my parents missed out on. I hope to begin studying forensics, and eventually become a forensic anthropologist, something I've wanted to be for a long time, I've always been interested in shows like CSI and Bones and combined with the fact that for a long time I wanted to be a cop and solve murders I decided it would be a challenging job and a perfect fit for me.

  19. I’m not sure where my education will take me. I don’t have aspirations to own a country or be incredibly rich. I do hope that my education will allow me to solve problems and create opportunities that will grant happiness to myself and loved ones. As a political science major, my career pursuit will be in the field of law. With law, I can bring justice hopefully. I don’t intend on becoming a judge, but a lawyer would be more than good enough for me. Balancing several jobs and an education can be very stressful. However, it's manageable. If a superhero can do it, then so can I. Right?

  20. To be completely honest, I am not sure where exactly where my education will take me. I know that by me getting my bachelors in Psychology and continuing my education until I get my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology will place me a little higher than those who have not gotten an higher education. But there are times where I think that me investing so much time and effort to getting an higher education may not give me as much in return as I hope it to be. I could live in the fantasy that I will be as rich as the Black Panther or that I will open my own private practice and work at a job that I am excited to do. However, realistically, how the job market is going, I am not sure that I will even have a job that pertains to my degree or that I will be too over qualified to get an entry position. Maybe it is me being pessimistic, or maybe I am seeing how it is to be a graduate student in America. Whatever it is, I hope that my education will take me further than how I am seeing it now, and I will only try and attempt to do everything in my power to ensure I achieve my dreams, I will be open to the fact that things may change in the future.

  21. First of all I like how the article highlights education. i also like how they highlighted Batman aka Bruce Wayne who is a graduate of Yale Law School. Even superheros get educated. In response to the article, I am sure that education will take me far. I plan on working closely with family and children. Nowadays having an education is vital especially if you want to make a decent living. Bachelors is almost equivalent to a high school diploma. If superheroes think it is important to get a good education and make a decent living to show for it, then heck i must agree. #TeamgetEducated

  22. I like how this article shows how comics try to place importance on education. This is a great way to try and push young kids to want to go to school. Not many people that kids are looking up to are promoting the idea of getting an education to become wealthy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well I don't know about black panther, so to find out that he is worth $500 billion dollars comes at a great shock to me because hes not the most popular super hero. Being a comic buff I more interested it just baffles me how much black panther is worth. It's cool how they were able to connect education to the popularity of the superheros. The one thing is that almost all of those superheros come from rich families, so you could say that had some affect on their outcomes as students and superheros.

  24. Education can only take people far in life, being powerful does not solely rely on having a good education. According to all whatculture.com's list of 10 Most Powerful Superheroes Of All Time none of these superheroes are worthy enough to be on the list. Granted, some of the superheroes in the list were pretty smart like Dr. Banner who has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics or Dr. Manhattan who graduated from Princeton with a Ph.D. in atomic physics but if neither of these had had a catostrophic accident in a lab, they wouldn't even be superheroes. Now, I'm not saying that education isn't necessary, it is. I'm just trying to say that having a fancy diploma is not all it takes to go far in life.

  25. I had no idea Black Panther was so wealthy and smart and a little disappointed Batman wasn’t number one. Most of the characters on this list seem to have come from wealthy families and it makes me think weather it’s their intelligence that make them so rich or is it their money that make them so smart. The more money one has the easier it is get a good education and the smarter someone is the more money they’re likely to make. So which one is it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I did not expect to see Black Panther on the list none the less at the top. I expected to see batman or iron man at the top as the most wealthiest. Then the Black Panther also turns out to be one of the smartest aside Tony Stark. To be fair I never really paid much attention to the Black Panther in the Marvel universe until Captain America Civil War came out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I also, did not expect Black Panther to be at the top of the list over Tony Stark. However, my education will take me far as I am studying Industrial Engineering. I am very interested in figuring out ways to enhance something. Acquiring the tips and skills of an engineer will continue to encourage me to pursue my goal. Before I came to college I always thought college doesn't determine my success and I still believe that. It is the skills and knowledge I will actually use that will help me reach the top of my own personal list.

  28. I liked this article because it shows how even superheroes have had some form of education although I was shocked to see magneto on there because he doesn't have a big company or a upper class job so i don't know how he got all his money. Also I don't even know if he even has an education. mostly all owners of big companies have some form of a college degree so I am not shocked that their rich or own a big company. The black panther was a shock to me being number 1 even though he runs a country in Africa. I don't know where my education will take me all i know is that it wont take as far as these people.it will probably only get me to getting a career job at that's pretty much it.

  29. As I read this article, I thought it was just a funny joke about superheroes. But, as I began to read more into it, I found it really interesting. I see these superheroes as my childhood, I looked up to these people. And then, I found out that the heroes who are really rich, went to college and graduated, and became very successful. I began to realize that I used to look up to these characters because they fight crime and save the pretty girl at the end. However, I now see characters such as Batman, Professor X, Black Panther, and so on, that not only do they save lives, but they also are really successful people.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This article was interesting to me because I didn't really think about the path they took to become how we visualize and think about them to be. I feel like we were aware of superheroes' intelligence but we didn't really acknowledge it about them. I feel like if people were more aware of of these facts then maybe it would make a really good impact on the children that look up to superheroes. Maybe children and other fans wouldn't just look up at them for their amazing powers but also for their intelligence and their ambition! This information and outlook has the ability to motivate many people!
I believe that education can bring me far in life. Education can further expand my knowledge and can grant me a successful life.

  31. Yesterday, like really early in the morning 3am, I was so pissed off that I had to make 30 page of chemistry lab report, and then have math exam, and then study for chemistry exam till the morning with full of worrying about English assignment in my head. Then suddenly, I realized this whole complaining for school thing is nonsense. It was not easy for me to take this chance. My parents did not believe in power of education. I struggled to persuade them, and decided not to tell them that I am studying now.
I know the odd is just too tiny that I became rich like Tony stark or super hero of course. But at least I can go to university and broaden my intelligence like them. Nothing to complain about. I am a happy girl.

  32. Education has always been seen as important and useful throughout my family. The education that I have been taught so far is useful and allowed me to reach a new level of a intellectual conversation. growing up in IV League schools was helpful but also very hard for me since I do not have the best of the best learning abilities, in comparison to my other classmates. I decided to challenge myself in college and major in biology to go t grad school then maybe medical school. The only thing is that I understand the concepts in labs and in hands on learning rather than just a textbook, which is why it will be a challenge. The importance of education is extremely relevant in today's society and I cannot wait to see how far my education will take me, rather than experience.

  33. I think it's really interesting the way that this is shown. Education in my life has always been important. Seeing that my close family didn't have the same opportunities that I was given. For that reason I had always tried to go above and beyond. My education is going to take me far in my opinion. I believe through hard work and dedication my education is not only going to let me get my dream job, but it also going to let set me up to be successful. That way not only can I provide for my future family and my mom, but also that way I can give back to my community. For a while my education has always been something that pushes me to be better. So i kind of, education wise, have nothing to complain about.

  34. My job I get from my education is just a tool I will be using to fund my real goals such as real estate, stocks, and other ventures. As you can see from this list, all these superheroes are very smart and their education plays a vital role in their businesses. You can also see that they dont have basic jobs. They instead use their education to open huge businesses and invest in the stock market.
