Spreading Literacy

Greg Mortenson ends Three Cups of Tea with a "vision that we all will dedicate the next decade to achieve universal literacy and education for all children, especially for girls. More than 145 million of the world's children are deprived of education due to poverty, exploitation, slavery, gender discrimination, religious extremism, and corrupt governments" (Mortenson and Relin 333).

What is your vision to achieve the goal of universal literacy?

I believe that Mortenson’s plan will come true in the future. Because of Mortenson, the children not only in Korphe, but also in other village have new and wonderful schools. Everybody can get education. Mortenson does a lot for the Pakistan’s poor people. His selfless spirit moves many people in the world. More and more people focus on the Pakistani children’s education problem now, and all of them want to help Mortenson and the children. Therefore I believe if everybody unite together, Mortenson's plan will be achieved.

  2. In my opinion, the only way to achieve the goal of universal literacy should come from each person. We can't force the Pakistani children to study if they themselves don't have the motivation to do so. Children in Pakistan and Afghanistan have suffered a lot that they don't want to go to school. They prefer to be millitants rather than study at home. The only way to achieve the goal of universal literacy is through the religion teaching. Pakistan is an Islam country and the people believe in what the Islam preachers say. So, we have to make the Islam preachers believe that children have to be enlightened.
